La Vallée de l’impatience (2019) | reciter, 3 solists, school choirs and orchestra and electronics | 60′ | WP
It is through the practice of improvised music that Maël Bailly takes the path of musical invention. By joining Gilles Deliège’s viola class at the Conservatoire de Tours, he discovered the contemporary, mysterious and attractive repertoire.
The opening, in 2012, of Alessandro Solbiati’s composition workshop will be decisive: he discovers, with a mixture of enthusiasm and circumspection, the cuisine of writing.
The following year, he entered Alain Mabit’s 20th-21st century writing class, then, in 2014, Gérard Pesson’s composition class.
He participates in the Voix Nouvelles Academy in Royaumont in 2016 and the Musica/Manoury Academy in 2017. His music has been played by the Divertimento Ensemble, Mdi Ensemble, the Intercontemporary Ensemble and the Instant Donné.
In 2017 and 2018 he was composer in residence at the GMEM of Marseille for La Vallée de l’impatience, a work with a social dimension a work with a social dimension in an Marseille area called La Cayolle, which brings together children and adults from this district and the ensemble C Barré.
He continues to perform occasionally on viola, in improvised music concerts.
