Trobo

© Emilie Chaung

Our concert is called “Trobo”. It’s Provencal: a language spoken in southeastern France, in Provence. This is the region where the Ensemble C Barré is located, in the city of Marseille. “Trobo” means ‘Findings’, and it’s a way for us to echo Johann Sebastian Bach’s Inventions. Inventio in Latin and Trobo in Provençal express the same idea: that of a search for sound and surprises along the way.
There is no model for this kind of trio, so we have everything to invent, and that’s what motivates us to play together and share our discoveries.
