Created in collaboration with the Festival International de Quatuor à Cordes du Luberon, this programme focuses on German and Austrian composers and the works they wrote between 1820 and 1830.
The programme includes a number of original works by Beethoven for mandolin and keyboard, as well as several Lieder by Schubert arranged by the famous Austrian guitarist Johann Kaspar Mertz (1806-1856).
Two centuries apart, Thomas Keck has developed a new work based on four Schubert Lieder for the ‘string quartet’ of Ensemble C Barré, made up of mandolin, guitar, harp and cymbalum. The cymbalum will be featured in two short solo pieces by Hungarian composer György Kurtág.
