This programme is named after Yan Maresz’s work for quartet and electronics, which is now one of the highlights of today’s repertoire. It is from this singular formation that the Messiaen Festival and the Ensemble C Barré joined forces in 2017 to commission a new work from the young Chilean/Spanish composer Francisco Alvarado.
In 2019, the quartet’s repertoire will be enriched by a new work commissioned by the CIRM from Gabriel José Bolaños Chamorro, a Nicaraguan composer who, like Francisco Alvarado and Yan Maresz, was taught by Tristan Murail in his musical career.
