After a successful first collaboration last year, the Ensemble C Barré has come up with a new programme for the 2023 Festival d’Aix with the Ensemble Vocal d’Aix-Marseille Université (EV’AMU), directed by Philippe Franceschi, and an instrumental quintet of saxophone/doudouk, accordion, harp, cymbalum and cello. Its theme is inspired by the delights of eating and drinking, with a cappella works by Rameau and Delagarde, an instrumental creation by Alexandros Markeas, 4 traditional Armenian songs orchestrated for vocal ensemble and quintet, a formation which Cypriot composer Christina Athinodorou has taken up for her new work Un Silence Extraordinaire, commissioned by the Aix-en-Provence Festival.
The programme continues with a concert at the Théâtre du Centaure in Marseilles on 11 June, in association with the Petits Violons des Calanques and the CIQ Les Hauts de Mazargue La Cayolle, where a work by François Rossé will be premiered, commissioned by the Ensemble C Barré for the Petits Violons des Calanques.
Amateur participants take part in this concert.
In collaboration with the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Théâtre du Centaure, CIQ – Les Hauts de Mazargue La Cayolle.
