Intention :

Mombacho was commissioned by CIRM for the 2019 MANCA festival to be performed by Ensemble C Barré.
The Mombacho is an active volcano is located in Granada, Nicaragua with a cloud forest on its summit. I have spent lots of time hiking the volcano and listening to the immersive sounds of the forest. This piece is an exploration of gradual changes at macro and micro levels. The work was inspired by the gradual geological forces that shaped the Mombacho, as well as the cyclical, diurnal and seasonal changes of the rainforest’s sonic ecosystem.
