Solo to Anthony Cirone

composer

genre :

Instrumental

duration :

5′

year :

1972

Intention :

« It is a piece for a family of instruments that are not known in the past, the tenor bells:
Lou Harrison wanted bells that were in a range not covered by pipe bells.
I had to build them, which I did with scaffolding tubes, patiently sawed until they reached the required heights.
By their very resonant side, by the calm that emanates from the piece, and also by the scale of the pitches used, this piece is part of a double interest of Lou Harrison:
metallic percussion on the one hand, and Asian musical scales and colors on the other. »

Maxime Echardour, percussionist
